Manage several sites and users
Updated
On this page
A portal can group several sites, for example the hotels of a chain or the offices of a company. Each site has its own UniFi console and its own UniFi domain; look and access rules can be shared or specific to each site.
Add a site
In Sites, create a new site and connect it to its UniFi console: see Connect Captive Portal to your UniFi console. The number of sites depends on your plan; suspended sites count towards the total.
Shared or per-site settings
Portal settings apply to all sites.
With two or more sites, in Sites → site → Customise the site you can choose Specific to this site: logo, colours, texts, languages, access mode (e-mail or voucher), sponsor, form fields and limits. Fields left empty stay as in the portal.
Privacy policy, marketing consent and data retention belong to the portal and apply to all sites.
Temporarily suspend a site
From Sites → site you can suspend guest access, for example during a closure. New guests see “Service temporarily unavailable” (with your own message, if you set one); guests already connected stay until their access expires. Resume guest access brings the site back.
Delete a site
A site can only be deleted when it no longer has guest registrations or authorizations, that is once they have expired under the data retention. You cannot delete the portal’s only site.
Invite colleagues
In Users, invite a person by e-mail: they choose their own password. The roles are:
Role | What they manage |
|---|---|
Customer admin | All the portals of your organization and the people who manage them. |
Portal admin | A single portal. |
If the invitation does not arrive, use Resend invitation. The role cannot be changed: to change it, delete the user and invite them again.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I exceed the number of sites in my plan?
Existing sites stay active; to add more you need a plan with more sites, or to delete one.
Can I use a multi-site subscription to resell the service to my clients?
No. This would violate the Terms and Conditions and applicable privacy laws, as it is not possible to configure separate privacy policies for each site.
