Getting started

Do I need additional hardware?

No. You use the UniFi access points and the UniFi OS console you already have. Your router and firewall can be any brand — there is no box to buy.

Which UniFi systems are supported?

UniFi OS consoles running UniFi Network 9.x or 10.x. The portal connects through the official UniFi Network Integration API with an API key you create in UniFi Network. Older controllers without the Integration API are not supported.

Do I need a RADIUS server?

No. The portal works with the UniFi Hotspot’s external portal and authorises guests through the UniFi API — no RADIUS, no extra servers.

Is it cloud based?

Yes. We host, run and update the service in Switzerland. You don’t install or maintain anything: you connect your UniFi network and configure everything from your browser.

What do I have to configure on my network?

In UniFi Network you enable the Hotspot with an external portal pointing to the address we give you. On your router you set up port forwarding so our server can reach the UniFi console — you can restrict it to our server’s address.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. You enter a payment method at checkout and can cancel before the trial ends.

Guests

How does guest authentication work?

With e-mail, guests enter their name and e-mail and accept your privacy notice. They get online immediately for a short grace period and confirm with the link or numeric code we e-mail them. Alternatively, a site can use printed vouchers instead of e-mail.

Can a sponsor approve guests?

Yes. Guests can name a sponsor who can unlock their access. You can also make sponsor approval mandatory, so only a sponsor can activate access, and accept sponsors only from your own e-mail domains.

What happens when a guest authorisation expires?

At the end of the session UniFi disconnects the device from the internet and the portal appears again on the next connection, so the guest simply signs in again. With vouchers, the code keeps working until its validity ends.

Can I limit speed and data?

Yes: download and upload speed per device (up to 100 Mbit/s) and a data cap, per portal or per site — enforced by your UniFi access points. Voucher plans have their own limits.

Which languages does the guest portal speak?

Italian, German, French and English. The language follows the guest’s phone and can be changed on the page; you choose which languages each site offers.

Branding & privacy

Can I customise the captive portal?

Yes: logo, four colours, welcome and marketing texts in four languages and the link shown after sign-in, with a live preview. Each site can have its own look.

Can I use my own logo and e-mail address?

Yes. Your logo appears on the portal and in the e-mails, and verification e-mails can be sent from your own address through your mail server.

Can I configure GDPR / nLPD privacy consent?

Yes. You publish your privacy notice in every language; each change is kept as an immutable version and every registration records which one was accepted. Marketing consent is optional and never pre-ticked. You set how long personal data is kept, and you can export or erase a guest’s data on request. As the data controller, you remain responsible for the texts and legal bases you use.

Where is the data stored?

Guest data is hosted in Switzerland.

Plans & billing

Can I manage multiple locations?

Yes. Plans include 1, 3, 10 or 25 sites, each with its own UniFi controller, settings and statistics.

Can MSPs manage multiple customers?

Yes. A reseller account can run several portals — one per customer — and configure them, without access to the customers’ guest personal data. Contact us to set one up.

How are guests counted?

A guest is one verified e-mail address or one voucher used in a calendar month across all your sites, no matter how often they connect. The Enterprise plan has no guest limit.

What if I exceed my plan?

Guests keep connecting. We warn you at 80, 90 and 100% of the monthly quota. Only after three consecutive months over the quota are new guests paused — with two weeks’ notice — until you move to a larger plan.

Can I change plan or cancel?

Yes, from your account at any time. Every plan has the same features, so you only move up when you need more sites, access points or guests.

How is billing handled?

Payments, invoices and taxes are handled by Paddle, our reseller and Merchant of Record. Prices are shown excluding VAT, in EUR, CHF or USD; VAT is added at checkout, where business customers can enter their VAT number.
