Duration, speed and data of the guest connection
Updated
For every authorized device, Captive Portal sends UniFi the access duration and, if you set them, the speed and data limits. UniFi enforces them on the network.
Access duration
In Portal settings → Limits & Security → Access and verification, the Session duration (minutes) field sets how long access lasts after confirmation: for example 480 = 8 hours.
Let guests choose the days
In Portal settings → Look and access → Optional form fields, set Duration chosen by the guest to The guest chooses the days. The form shows a menu with the day options you decide (from 1 to 31); access lasts the chosen days. If there is a sponsor, they can change the days when approving.
Speed and data per device
In Portal settings → Limits & Security → Per-device limits:
Field | Unit |
|---|---|
Download | kbps (1 Mbit/s = 1000 kbps) |
Upload | kbps |
Data quota (MB) | MB per authorization |
0 means no limit; an empty field uses the default value, shown in grey.
The highest speed you can set is 100 Mbit/s (100000 kbps), the UniFi limit.
The limits also apply during the temporary access before the e-mail is confirmed.
See the limits in use
Under Authorized you find, for each connected guest, the expiry, the limits applied and the traffic.
